Doncaster Rovers: The future is now for new boy Alfie Beestin
The 18-year-old joined from Tadcaster Albion yesterday after completing a successful trial period with Rovers.
“He’s a good player and he’s got great potential,” Ferguson told The Star. “He’s shown quite a lot already.

“He’s a very creative midfield player.
“We’re not going to rush the lad but we certainly believe he’s got a lot of potential.
“We were made aware of him from Tadcaster and we got him in to have a look.
“He did really well and the deal would have been done earlier but he picked up a slight injury. We just had to make sure he recovered from that which he has done.
“He will have a part to play this season.
“Whether that’s straight away or not, I’m not too sure.
“But he will certainly have a part.
“This boy is a good player.”

Hide AdBeestin worked with Tadcaster’s youth set up in partnership with the i2i Academy which aims to find professional clubs for players.
He began his youth career with York City but was released.
Ferguson said: “He’s a creative midfield player. He could play off the front I suppose but we see him as a midfield player.
“He plays in between well and he’s picked up a lot of the stuff straight away.
“He sees a pass. He has great vision of what’s in front of him.
“We don’t want to build him up too much but we have high hopes for him. We think he’s going to be a good player.”
