Dobet blends African and western music on stage in Sheffield
Dobet, who is from the Ivory Coast, has a powerful voice and performs high-energy dance routines in her live shows.
The word m iziki means music and Dobet pays homage to Africa and the strength of African women in her work.

Hide AdAlthough the album is almost entirely sung in Dobet's native tongue, Bété, a tradition inherited from her master percussionist father, Boni Gnahoré, it also draws on her love of western music.  Her influences include Björk and Christine and the Queens, and she also uses electronic sounds to blend ancient and modern styles.
She also wrote 11 of the 12Â songs on the album herself.Â
