Officers were carrying out checks on East Bawtry Road, close to where a man died in a crash a few days before Christmas.
South Yorkshire Police today described how 10 drivers were stopped during the course of a couple of hours on the stretch between Worrygoose Roundabout and Wickersley, where the limit is 40mph.

Of those stopped, six were given verbal warnings for their speed.
One driver caught doing 51mph was issued with a Traffic Offence Report, which police said could mean a £100 fine and three points on their licence.
The driver of the red Seat Ibiza pictured was clocked at 62mph.

“He was reported on summons for a hot date with the magistrates, who will decide whether this is a reasonable excuse. Somehow I think they won’t!
“Chances are this driver may get six points and because he’s still classed as a new driver he may have to retake his driving test.”
Jay Maxfield, aged 31, died following a crash on Bawtry Road in Brecks on Saturday, December 21.
Friends, who described him as an ‘absolute diamond’, set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for his funeral.
