South Yorkshire Police have this message for drivers speeding during lockdown

Officers from SYP Operational Support released pictures on their Facebook page showing drivers breaking the speed limit on motorways and restricted roads over the last few days.
And the unit had this message for drivers tempted to flout the speed limit as the roads get busier: “Some may scoff or criticize when we highlight the work that we do, but there is no denying the implications that speed can have in terms of risk on the road.

“We deal with it all, which if you follow our page you will see, but for example just 10mph over the limit in a 30mph zone increases the risk of death to pedestrians by up to four times. This is the reason why this is so important.”
The unit added that drivers should be taking extra care and reducing their speed after the county was plunged back into wintry conditions this week, causing wet roads and reduced visibility.
“You may think you'll be ok, it won't happen to you, or you won't get caught,” the post adds. “Our experience tells us you'll get caught and you need to slow down.”
