South Yorkshire Police said police dogs were sent to the scene of the rave due to the ‘less than compliant’ attitude of many of those at the ‘unlawful’ event, but they were not needed for enforcement or arrests.
The force said: “Barnsley was the focus for South Yorkshire Police’s operational support unit overnight with our dog handlers on patrol supporting colleagues.
“Police dog Vinny and police dog Bill were deployed to back up officers dealing with an unlawful rave in Carlton.
“The dogs were called to assist due to the less than compliant attitude of many of those involved.
“Officers dealt with this incident without the need for any further action from the dogs, but it's reassuring to know they are there to do the business should things get more serious.”
