Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service posted a video showing one of their engines coming under attack on Bonfire Night, saying: “This needs to end. Now. Enough is enough.”
Sharing the video, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue wrote: “This is totally unacceptable. We stand with our @Tyne_Wear_FRS colleagues in saying enough is enough!”

Hide AdIn Sheffield, in similarly shameful scenes, fireworks were thrown at police officers and vehicles in parts of the city on what was the first day of the new national lockdown.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the majority of people had followed its advice to be careful with fireworks and bonfires, with some exceptions.
“Sadly, as expected, we saw a rise in deliberate fires being set, and we'll be working with our police colleagues to identify those responsible. One day we'll eradicate arson. One day!” it added.
