South Yorkshire driver faces jail after causing "life changing" injuries

Jacob Sanderson, 22, of Pogmoor Road, Barnsley, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and attempting to pervert the course of justice, on Wednesday, December 30.
The court heard the offences took place May 6, 2018, on roads including Cope Street and Dobie Street, in Barnsley.

Hide AdProsecutor Suzanne Evans said his victim's injuries were "significant" and "life changing."
She asked for sentencing to be adjourned so the court could be updated about the victim's current condition.
Sanderson's barrister, James Baird, did not apply for a pre-sentence report from the probation service.
Recorder Ian Harris told Sanderson: "You have had the good sense to realise there is only one possible sentence here, I am sure.

Hide Ad"Make no mistake, these were two serious offences, and on the face of it someone's life will be altered because of your criminal actions.
"The fact I am granting you bail is an act of compassion. If you breach the court's trust there will be a further custodial sentence."
He gave Sanderson bail until January 29, on condition he resides at his home address, and imposed an interim driving ban.
"You will get some credit for your guilty pleas,” the judge told him.
