South Yorkshire domestic abuse survivor nearly killed by ex-husband issues message of hope at Christmas

Jodie a ‘high-risk survivor’ has not only shared her story but pictures of the abuse by her ex-husband which put her in hospital.
She said: “Domestic abuse over Christmas heightens so so much.

Hide Ad“It was two years ago that my ex-husband tried to kill me so I was in hospital over Christmas.
“The best gift I was ever given was freedom because now I can do what I want, say what I want, buy what I want and wear what I want.”
She advises people who are in an abusive relationship to be kind to yourself and when it is safe to leave please leave because it is ‘so so much better on the other side’.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Domestic violence is ‘any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are, or have been, intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality.

Hide Ad“The abuse can encompass, but is not limited to psychological, physical, sexual, financial, emotional.
“If an incident of domestic abuse is happening now or someone has been injured or is in danger, call 999.”
