South Yorkshire arsonist who failed to appear for video link sentencing has case adjourned

Sheffield Crown Court heard how Joy Harrison, aged 58, set fire to her flat on Belmont Avenue, Barnsley, but after her case had twice been adjourned for her to discuss concerns she refused to come to a prison video room link for her sentencing yesterday, April 29.
Beverley Wright, prosecuting, told a previous hearing Harrison had contacted the fire service before the flat was found ablaze on April 4, 2019.

Hide AdHarrison, now of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to committing arson recklessly as to whether life would be endangered.
Richard Davies, defending, said Harrison has alcohol problems and has now spent considerable time in prison on remand.
The court heard Harrison refused to attend her video link from prison for her latest hearing.
Harrison’s case was adjourned until May 28.
