Sheffield man who threatened partner spared from prison

John William Farnell, 28, of Nottingham Cliff, Neepsend, Sheffield, admitted threatening to damage his partner’s property and admitted committing the offence while subject to a suspended prison sentence.
Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 22 how Farnell had made the threats on May 19 days after he had been given a suspended prison sentnence for a previous offence.

Hide AdMary Rose MacAdam, defending, said Farnell had made the threats during a heated argument but he did not intend to carry them out.
She added matters have been reconciled with his partner and he understands he is on a “knife’s edge”.
The probation service stated Farnell has been engaging with positive feedback.
District Judge Naomi Redhouse sentenced Farnell to a 12-month community order with a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement and added five RAR days to his suspended prison sentence. He must pay £75 compensation and £85 costs.
