Police to guard primary school after man attempted to abduct pupil

South Yorkshire Police has said it will be “carrying out specific patrols around the area during key school times” after a man followed a pupil as he walked to Plover Primary School in Intake this morning.
The school has urged parents to collect their children at the end of the school day rather than allowing them to walk home alone.

Hide AdA post detailing the incident has been widely shared on Facebook and it reads: “Just to make people aware, my son was approached by a man at the roundabout near Plover School this morning.
“He was tall, had a black Corsa and had short dark hair. He told my son to go with him and he ran away to school - the man chased him for a short while.
“School are phoning police. I feel sick to my stomach.”
Parents received a text alert telling them to pick pupils up at the end of the school day.
A police spokesman said: “At 8.25am this morning, a pupil reported that a man had followed him as he walked to school. The man left as the pupil approached the school gates.

“Anyone with concerns or information should call 101 quoting incident number 145 of 29 January 2020.”
