The force said: “We executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a property in the Hadfield Close area of Darnall.
“Although no drugs were found, a hidden firearm was recovered within the property.
“Enquiries are currently ongoing in relation to this.”
Officers said an unrelated arrest was made by officers involved in the raid after a man was spotted fly-tipping waste nearby.
In September last year, a gun was fired at a property on Staniforth Road, Darnall.
A window was damaged but nobody in the house was injured.
