Police called to 29 ‘Covid-related incidents’ as pub beer gardens reopened in Sheffield

Under Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of lockdown, bars, shops and hair and beauty salons were allowed to re-open yesterday.
South Yorkshire Police said across the county, officers were alerted to 29 Covid-related incidenst but no fines needed to be issued.
The force said: “Overall, yesterday went really well.

Hide Ad“We worked alongside local authority licensing teams and attended premises where concerns had been reported to ensure compliance with Covid secure requirements.
“The Sheffield neighbourhood officers carried out an operation in the city centre to ensure businesses and customers were supported on the first day of reopening.
“We were called to 29 Covid-related incidents yesterday across the county, but these weren’t all in hospitality venues or business premises.
“There were no reported public order incidents in South Yorkshire and I don’t believe any fines were handed out.”
