A bereaved South Yorkshire thug has been given a community order after he attacked three family members

Sheffield Crown Court heard on April 15 how Ian England, aged 46, of Cliffe Road, Brampton, Barnsley, slapped a youngster’s leg, grabbed his wife’s cousin by the neck and bit his wife’s hand.
Adam Walker, prosecuting, said England had been playing cards with family when he became so annoyed that a youngster was using a mobile phone and not paying attention that he slapped her on a leg.

Hide AdMr Walker added that England then objected to someone smoking and he grabbed his wife’s cousin by the throat and pinned her to the floor.
As England’s wife tried to intervene she was bitten on her left hand by the defendant, according to Mr Walker.
England, who has been suffering since the death of a daughter, pleaded guilty to three assaults after the incident on September 24, 2020.
Lauren Hebditch, defending, said after the offences England was remanded in custody for a month, and he has been trying to get his job back and has not seen his family.

Hide AdShe added: “The defendant’s actions on September 24, last year, have in effect turned his life upside down.”
Ms Hebbditch said England accepts he has been struggling with anger-management since the death of a daughter.
Judge Rachael Harrison sentenced England to a two-year community order with 100 hours of unpaid work, a rehabilitation requirement and a Building Better Relationships Programme. England was also made subject to a five-year restraining order.
