Sheffield Council issue update on play areas and public toilets reopening

It comes as public facilities, including playgrounds and toilets, began reopening in parts of the UK, including in Scotland, as part of the easing of lockdown restrictions.
A Council spokesperson confirmed they are “looking into” reopening these spaces but they will remain closed for now. A reopening date was not given.

Hide AdThe spokesperson said playgrounds and toilets “present the biggest challenges in reopening” because there are “a lot of contact points, no way of managing who’s been there, and frequent cleaning is required.”
Temporary toilets have been installed on Pinstone Street in Sheffield city centre.
The spokesperson added: “It is all being looked at, and how we can best reopen them safely, but at a manageable way for our service and staff safety taken in to account too.”
