As part of a half-term craft challenge set by South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership (SYSRP), pupils were invited to take a break from their screens and make a mini version of someone special in the form of a ‘tube person’.
From NHS staff, school crossing patrols and teachers to police officers, police dogs and delivery drivers, the Safer Roads team was delighted by the key worker tributes and craft skills on show from more than 20 schools.

“Well done and a massive thank you to everyone who took part and sent us a photo of their creation. We were really touched by the variety of entries and occupations.
“Young people have clearly taken a lot of time to make their ‘tube people’ and to recognise our amazing key workers.
“There are definitely lots of very talented children out there.”

“Throughout the pandemic we’ve tried to come up with as many new ways as possible to engage with children and families on the subject of road safety,” added Joanne.
“As we’ve not been able to attend schools, we’ve developed our website to offer online lessons, quizzes, crafts and recipes because it’s so important to keep our families safe.
“Hopefully after Easter, we will be able to get back into assemblies and classrooms to resume our work with schools.
