New book shows 70 years of unseen Sheffield pictures
They are published in a new book by a city publisher and date back over 70 years.
Here you can see bustling streets, long-gone cinemas and buildings springing up that are now long gone.

Hide AdA picture of Castle Street shows building work going on at Castle Market in the 1960s, the building of course now demolished.
Another of cranes on the skyline shows Park Hill under construction.
That has undergone huge changes since the optimistic days of former slum tenants enjoying their new homes in the ‘streets in the sky’.
The high-quality images show old theatres, cinemas, markets, the Hole in the Road, Cambridge Arcade, Coles Corner, The Corn Exchange and so many more places places that have now disappeared from the Sheffield skyline.

Hide AdThe book is called Unseen Images of Sheffield Throughout the Last 70 Years.
It is 100 pages long and contains more than 140 photographs of Sheffield, dating from ther 1950s through to the millennium.
Written by David Richardson and Michael Liversidge, it has been published by Sheffield company Pickards Design and Print.
