South Yorkshire Police officers and staff absent with Covid-19 – but force insists it is coping with demand

In line with forces across the country, South Yorkshire Police has not disclosed the number of officers or staff members self-isolating.
Bu the force said it has plans in place for all eventualities and welcomed 60 new recruits last week.

Hide AdIn a statement, it said: “South Yorkshire Police always has plans in place to prepare for any event which could result in officer and staff abstraction.
“These are regularly exercised and staff are trained in adopting to these plans at short notice.
“We are currently in a position where we are able to meet our policing demand.
“Officer numbers are growing and only last week we welcomed sixty new officers to our ranks.
