South Yorkshire coronavirus death toll rises for third time this week as new lockdown rules loom

On Monday, 21 September NHS England said a patient in the care of The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust was among a further 10 people in England who tested positive for Covid-19 to have died.
It brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,757. The latest fatalities were aged between 44 and 95 years old and all had known underlying health conditions.

Hide AdThe latest South Yorkshire death was recorded on Sunday (20 September).
The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust also recorded a coronavirus-related death on 17 September, while Sheffield Teaching Hospitals confirmed their first fatality in more than a fortnight on 15 September.
The total number of hospital deaths in Sheffield since the pandemic hit stands at 294.
On Monday chief scientific officer Sir Patrick Vallance said the UK could see 50,000 new coronavirus cases a day by mid-October without preventive action.
