Another 105 people in the city tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, September 24, according to the latest government figures.
That is the most in a single day since March 30, at the peak of the pandemic, when there were 110 confirmed cases, though it should be noted that data for the most recent days is less reliable as it more likely to be revised.

Hide AdSheffield’s weekly infection rate has climbed sharply, with 368 confirmed cases recorded during the seven days to Monday, September 21, giving a rate of 62.9 per 100,000 people – up from 46.2 the previous week.
Sheffield is currently listed as an ‘area of concern’ on the Government’s coronavirus watchlist, which is updated at the end of every week.
That is the lowest of three categories on the list, the others being an area of ‘enhanced support’, which could get additional resources to step up testing or improve community engagement; and an area of ‘intervention’, which could face local lockdown restrictions.
Bolton has the highest weekly infection rate in England, with 218.4 cases per 100,000 people recorded in the week ending September 21.
