The woman, who declined to be named, says it’s ‘only a matter of time’ before there is a fatal accident on Handsworth Road- where speeding has ‘increased’ since the roads became quieter amid the coronavirus outbreak.
She shared a shocking picture of her car which was hit by a speeding vehicle on Handsworth Road before lockdown was imposed in a bid to warn others.

“When my car was assessed, I was told it looked like my car had been in a high-speed motorway crash as opposed to an accident on a suburban road.
“It has been a major issue here for a long time. If you live in the area, you’ll know pulling out of your driveway in a morning or dropping your child off at the local school is already a nightmare.
“But since lockdown came into play, I’d say it’s definitely gotten even worse. Because the roads are quieter I think some drivers are taking advantage, thinking they can travel at dangerous speeds.
“You’ll hear them zooming up and down, night and day.”

“Every so often you’ll see a speeding van in the area, but I have to say that’s rare,” she said.
“We need speed cameras and filter lights so that residents can pull out of their driveways safely.
“I’m still commuting to work despite the lockdown. Things are difficult enough without us having to put ourselves in further danger on the roads.”
