That number is a rise of 24 in the last 24 hours, the equivalent of a 23 per cent increase. The number of confirmed cases in Sheffield is the highest in the north of England and more than three times the number of confirmed cases in Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester.
It comes as the fourth person who had been diagnosed with Covid-19 died in Sheffield. The first death from the illness in Rotherham was also confirmed on Tuesday (24 March).

Hide AdElsewhere in South Yorkshire, Doncaster now has 13 confirmed cases, while there are 15 in Barnsley and 16 in Rotherham.
The figures were released by Public Health England on Tuesday evening as part of their daily breakdown of confirmed cases in each local authority and NHS region.
There are now 8,077 confirmed cases in the UK, with 422 deaths.
