Sheffield technical college donates vital equipment to NHS staff

UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park gave various items to Riverside Health Partnership, which has surgeries based across South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire.
This included 100 disposable aprons, 60 pairs of safety glasses, 20 pairs of goggles, seven boxes of gloves and a visor.

Hide AdIt comes at a time when the government is facing mounting criticism around the inadequate supplies of PPE for healthcare workers.
Jessica Stevenson, Principal of UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, said: “We have enormous respect for the work that NHS staff are doing in response to Covid-19 and are very proud to play our part in supporting them.
“We have strong connections with NHS employers as one of our technical specialisms is health sciences. In addition to providing personal protective equipment, some of our students are also working in residential care homes during the lockdown to help frontline staff in that sector.”
Public Health England have issued new guidance to help healthcare workers cope with an expected shortage of PPE, which includes reusing gowns or using different kit.
