The gritters are out in Sheffield this evening, with more snow and ice expected over the next 24 hours.

A yellow weather warning for snow remains in place until the end of Wednesday, February 10, with the Met Office saying journeys may be disrupted, people could slip on icy pavements and there is a possibility of power cuts.

A mixture of light and heavy snow is expected tonight, tomorrow morning and tomorrow afternoon, and temperatures are forecast to drop to -4C during the early hours of Thursday, when it will feel like -7C.

Sheffield Council said this evening, Monday, February 8: “We’re set for more snow and ice over the next 24 hours. Our gritters are out throughout the evening to prepare the roads. Please take care and only travel if it’s essential.”
