You will be able to try dishes from Mexico to Thailand and West Africa to Vietnam at the new venue opening in May
It’s now less than five weeks until what is said to be Europe’s largest purpose-built food hall opens in Sheffield city centre.
More than half the food vendors who will be based at Cambridge Street Collective, across the street from the old John Lewis store, have now been announced.
Diners will be able to try dishes from across the globe, from Mexico to Thailand and West Africa to Vietnam, at the cavernous venue with space for 1,200 diners.
Eleven of the 20 food vendors have now been confirmed and you can find them all below, with details of the dishes they will be serving. The remaining traders are due to be announced over the coming weeks. As well as the 20 kitchens serving global street food, the new food hall will have four bars, rooftop terraces and a cookery school.
It will also boast a games room, a children’s play area, a Japanese-focused bar and a separate dining experience offering sushi and Korean BBQ.
Ali opened what was then reportedly the first Palestinian restaurant in the north five years ago in Manchester, with his vision to bring the 'authentic flavours, passion, and rich heritage of his homeland to the UK'. It has proved a big hit, with mentions in the Independent and BBC Food, and he is now expanding to Sheffield. The menu includes a 'velvety smooth' Jerusalem-style hand-whipped hummus, which takes 72 hours to make, Musakhan chicken, adorned with confit sumac onions that provide a 'tangy punch for a wow factor', and the viral Palestinian-inspired Sunday roast, featuring slow-roasted pomegranate lamb and moist Miramiya Chicken. Vnam has built up a big following since it started bringing the flavours of Vietnam to the people of Manchester in 2010 and now it's coming to Sheffield. Its speciality is the Pho - flat rice noodles served in a 'famous' hearty broth, which gets simmered for 12-18 hours to ensure depth of flavour. Other popular dishes include the Fresh Summer Rolls, consisting of pork, prawns, noodles and herbs wrapped in rice paper and served with peanut sauce, and the BBQ Pork & Noodles - marinated pork belly and rice noodles with salad and fish sauce. TANG has proved a big hit at food halls in Liverpool and Manchester, with people travelling from over the UK to sample the delicious bowls of soup served up there. Tang literally translates as soup, being taken from the word Ma-La-Tang, originating in Sichuan China and meaning 'numbing hot soup'. Diners can grab a bowl, fill it with ingredients from the fridge and pick their soup base and spice level, from none to mega hot, before tucking in. Photo: Cambridge Street Collective/TANG
